Hi
I have removed a HP Print driver (HP 1300) from a windows
2000 workstation (SP4) Now when I try to install a
printer the spool service stops and will not allow me to
install a printer. Can anyone help.

Hi Tony
Can't you start the spoolservice again ?? You have
probably added all that fancy packets from HP which mostly
causes more trouble than benefits - therefor - do not
install the whole printer application package but just the
driver for it. You'll probably want to download the
latyest driver from HP to be sure to get the newest. I
would just remove the package again - start the spooler
and then manually add an printer - and point to that newly
downloaded driver.

kind regards

The problem seems to have started when I removed the
driver. Now when I try to re-install the driver the spool
service stops and spoolsv.exe error. I can the re-start
the spool service but if I try to add a printer it stops
and I get the spoolsv.exe error again.
