Just purchased new computer with Windows XP --- will not shut down, it gets stuck and have to manually turn off. Have tried some of the troubleshooting suggestions from "help and support" menu with no luck --- any suggestions?

When does it get "stuck".Most happen as its remembering users settings,
if so,instead os selecting shutdown try logging off, then at welcome screen
select shutdown.
