Hello All,
I just bought two new HP's, one with XP Professional and one with
Vista Home Basic. The new machines came with SATA 80 Gb HDD's. I'm
trying to add a PATA slave drive to both from the old computers I've
replaced, on which I have a lot of data stored. The problem I'm
running into is this, everytime I hook the PATA (slave) drive up, the
computer boots from this new disc, and doesn't show the SATA drive any
longer. It's happening to both new HP's. I want these old PATA
drives as slave drives that I can use as additional storage. I've set
the jumper settings to "Slave" on both of the PATA drives. Can anyone
steer me in the correct direction? Thanks, Matt

Go into BIOS setup, and set the BIOS to boot from the SATA disk (Hard
Disk Boot Priority or Hard Disk Drive setting).

Thanks Andy, that worked on both. I appreciate your time. Matt
