Problems with page numbering

Hello :)

I have a word document with 65 pages. pages 1-7 are title page and table of
content. I need the title page blank, the table of contents to be roman
numerals and the other pages to be 1-59. I can not figure out how to do
this. When I enter a section break and insert page #, it still shows up on
the title and table of content page. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You're starting in the right direction by inserting the section break. Put
the cursor in the second section (after the section break) and open the
header or footer where the page number is.

- If you have Word 2003 or earlier:
- The Header/Footer toolbar appears. Click the Same As Previous button to
turn it off.
- Click the Format Page Numbers button and set the Start At box to 1.
- Click the Show Previous button on the toolbar to go to the Section 1
header or footer.
- Click the Format Page Numbers button and choose the roman numerals
format.
- Click the Page Setup button on the toolbar, go to the Layout tab, and
check the "Different first page" box.
- Finally, go to the page 1 header or footer and delete the page number
there.

- If it's Word 2007:
- The Header & Footer Tools tab appears on the ribbon.
- Click the Link To Previous button to turn it off.
- Click the Page Number button, select Format Page Numbers, and set the
Start At box to 1.
- Click the Previous Section button to go to the Section 1 header or
footer.
- Click the Page Number button, select Format Page Numbers, and choose the
roman numerals format.
- In the Options group of the Header & Footer Tools ribbon, check the
"Different first page" box.
- Finally, go to the page 1 header or footer and delete the page number
there.

After all this, update the TOC, which should show the correct page numbers.
