Problems With Outlook and Hotmail

B

Blewyn

I use Outlook to download my hotmail, and recently it has ceased to work.
When I try to send a message, it tells me
Task 'Hotmail - Sending' reported error (0x800CCCF4) : 'Unknown Error
0x800CCCF4'.

All the details are complete for the hotmail account (ie password is filled
in etc). Using Outlook 2003, WinXPSP2.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Blewyn

Are you sure that it isn't a new account as Homail doesn't allow you to
download via outlook or express anymore unless you pay.

It's a paid-for account.

Nobody else is posting yet so try these.
Set the account up in Outlook Express and see if that works.
Delete the account from Outlook and reset it.
I have had similar problems before and the best way of sorting it is to
backup all your emails, delete Outlook from your machine and re-install
again. Thats of course if it isn't a hotmail problem which it could so
easily be. Also try changing your password.
Hope that helps.

No need to delete the account from outlook or uninstall/reinstall Outlook -
just make a new account and see if it works and if you are worried it's a
bad install, use detect and repair instead.

It's probably a hotmail problem if it worked before... and it'll be fixed
with patience.

You were right - it suddenly started working again. Good job I wasn't
waiting on anything urgent !
