im trying to run my website live on frontpage 2002. i recently bought a new computer and loaded frontpage on it. I went to open up my website live, but got an error that says basically.. http://mysite.com/ is either unavaible, password protected, or has a / or \ . I had my hosting compnay reload the extensions and the tech was able to run my site live on frontpage from his location. I then went and hooked up the old computer and likewise was able to run the website live.

I am not sure what the problem is, but can only theorize that it has to do with an option not being enabled/disabled on the new computer or that it is not set up to run a website live. I have tried removing and reloading frontpage, but still have the same error message popping up.

im currently using an hp 2.66ghz p4 with 512mb ram and windows XP ... the old computer is running 333 mhz p2, 256mb ram, and windows me.

thanks for the help!

Any thoughts on this or solutions would be great... it has to be this computer!!!

I'm trying to troubleshoot something similar by trial and error - have
you tried disabling the XP firewall to access your website? It's not a
solution but it's a workaround for me and I'm trying to use that fact to
find out why it's part of the problem.

david,

how did you disable the firewall? internet properties? thought i might as well pick your brain instead of spending an hour trying to find it :)

ps -- getting around the firewall worked for you right?

I use Norton Personal Firewall so that's what I disabled temporarily,
and yes it worked for me, although it's not a "solution" I'm happy with.

To disable the built-in XP firewall, depending on how you have your
menus set up,

1. click on Start | Connect to... or Start | Internet Connections or
Start | Control Panel | Network Connections
2. right click the connection for your ISP and select Properties
3. click on the Advanced tab
4. uncheck the box that says "Protect my computer and network by
limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet"

After you've published your web, make sure you go back and re-enable the
firewall.
