Problems with new Cats - Missing support files?

Installed the latest 7.9 cats and had a few pop-ups during install moaning
about missing support files. Even removing and going back to cat 7.8 had the
same problem. Using Filemon managed to track down that a file here
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32 called
corecomp.ini appears to have been wiped out (0kb in size).

I downloaded the latest version of this file from here
http://support.installshield.com/resource/ispro/corecomp.ini , removed the
driver and tried again and it worked fine.

I have never had any trouble before and thought it might be a bug in the
latest cats so decided to post.

I've tried installing the 7.9's twice and blue screened both times. System
Restored back to 7.8
Never had any trouble with ATI drivers before.

I've never had any problems either, using ATI boards for 5 years now. You
URL points to the driver package I'm trying to install (driver only). It
downloads, seems to install normally but upon reboot I get a blue screen.
The second time around I powered down rather than rebooting and it still
bluescreened.

Have you got an X1950 pro agp. I am too wish I had read the release notes
before installing these POS drivers.

From the release notes.

Caution: Installing the Catalyst software suite 7.8 or 7.9 on a system
containing the ATI RadeonT X1950 AGP series of product may result in either
the desktop failing to be drawn properly or the operating system failing to
boot. It is recommended to continue using Catalyst 7.7 for this product at
this time.
