Problems with new (?) ATI Radeon 9800 pro...

Hi,

Just a few days I finally received my radeon 9800 pro card, but after
installation I got a little discouraged;
Everything was a complete blur (I start up using LILO boot mng) it just
displayed text all over the screen!

After booting into windows the card was detected properly, but although I
followed the EXACT instructions
on how to install the drivers (Catalyst something - also dl'ed the latest
release from ATI them selves....), it didn't help...
This means that colours are completely screwed (All very greenish) and I
have a few "bars" of green running down my
screen - thus, my card is useless!

Does anyone know what might cause this problem? Or should I just return it
immidiately?

Thanks in advance

Kris

PS. As the problem is there from I power up my computer, I do not think it
is a driver problem...
PPS. Also, I should probably mention that the card originates from the US,
whereas I'm living in Europe!

I presume you have the extra power connector attached to the card.

Try removing your card and reseating itfirmly but gentlly, making sure
it is in the AGP slot all the way. If this does not work, I would
return it judging by your symptoms, you may have a bad one, BTW what
are your components

Have you checked your connection between the VGA output and the monitors VGA
lead, is it firmly fixed in place and not twisted or anything? What about
the pins on the lead, check that none of them are bent. Do the green colours
get better or worse if you wiggle the lead where it connects into the card
(be gentle now)?
