Problems with networking

I have set up a home network. One desktop computer is directly connected to
a DSL modem. I also have a laptop connected to DSL wirelessly.

From the laptop I am able to access and view files residing on the desktop
computer. In addition, from the laptop, I am able to print on the printer
connected to the desktop. However, from the desktop, I am not able to access
or view files residing on the laptop.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Dan,

This problem is most frequently caused by a misconfigured or overlooked personal
firewall, or other security component. There are several other possibilities
too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open
mind.

Or look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net
config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):

Hi Dan,
Try to enable File/Folder sharing option on the Laptop. Do you have Firewall
installed that can prevent sharing or viewing files and folders on the
laptop, that according to the Info you represent,if it didnot work for
you, please write back with more info on what Operating system on both
computers (Laptop,desktop).
Good luck
please report back here.
