Can anyone help me? My HP Pavillion 7936 was doing all
sorts of goofy things. I did a non destructive
recovery. Every program I had added since I bought my
computer needed to be reloaded. So I re-installed my
Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. When
I go to open it I get the error message "The application
failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click in OK
to terminate the application". I have contacted
Microsoft and they told me to Upgrage my Windows XP Home-
based to Windows XP Professional. Can anyone tell me how
to do this or if the have had the same problem?

Sounds like it had a virus/trojan/spyware.

Opening what exactly ?

If it's Word, then rename normal.dot file (I believe that file still
exists in office 2003) - and restart Word.

The name of the person telling you that *ought* to be passed to higher
levels with a view to retraining. It is nonsense. Office will work
just as well with Home in a stand-alone environment. Pro is only needed
where it is a case of joining in a corporate network 'domain'
