Problems with IE since downloading service pack

G

Grant

Last week I installed the service pack to protect against
the sasser virus, and ever since I have had problems with
IE. Some Web sites work normally, but others do not.
When I look at the San Jose Mercury News home page and
click on a link to a story I get "page cannot be
displayed" errors. Same thing when I want to go to
the "secure" login for Yahoo! mail. When I try audio
streaming from the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. using Real
Audio I get a "too many streams" error message. However,
I can get audio streams from a Dutch radio station.

Also, right after I get the "page cannot be displayed"
error message, I get an exclamation mark surrounded by a
yellow star, attached to my cursor.

I have a hunch this is either an IE problem, an XP
problem or maybe a Norton problem, but most probably IE
or XP. Any suggestions out there to help me? Reply to

Thanks,
Grant

I hate to nitpick, but did you install a "Service Pack" or a "Hotfix?"
XP has only had one SP to date, and it was produced long before
Sasser. SP2 hasn't been officially released and is still in BETA so
there is not help there.

It does matter - correct terminology here helps diagnose problems.
