Problems with folder customization

I'm having problems with the folder customizing function in the Windows
Explorer in Windows XP.

1. When I customize a folder (to music for example), the setting is
sometimes lost after a couple of days.
2. Sometimes Windows automatically customizes a folder to be a music or
video folder. Even though there isn't a single music or video file in it. I
even get this when creating a new empty folder where the parent is either
uncustomized or manually customized for documents.
3. Some folders get automatically customized by Windows and the menu item
"View - Customize This Folder..." is removed. So I can't change the setting.
This has happend on a root folder and on the My Documents folder.

I have not found any knowledge base articles about these issues.
They have been annoying me ever since Windows XP was released (gold and SP1
on several computers). Has anyone else experienced the same problems? Is
there any solution?

Is anyone having the same problem? The messages disappear very fast in this

Answering in part.....

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

To reset and/or clear wrongly allicated folder customizations:

Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/Reset All Folders and/or go
to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i shell32

More information:

One of my special folders (e.g. My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, Shared
Documents, etc) has lost its name, lost its icon, or has the wrong Task Pane
template, how can I get it back?

For reasons unknown, some users find that drives or system folders display
the wrong tasks relative to the folder contents. The C: drive may display
music tasks; The 'My Music' folder may display picture tasks, etc.

While user-created folders allow access to the 'Customize' tab in the
'Properties' dialog, drives and system folders do not give you this option.
