Problems with disk cleanup

Tim

When I try to run disk cleanup by doing
start/programs/acc/system tools/disk cleanup the computer
simply does nothing. It will not bring up the disk
cleanup. The only way I can bring up the clean up screen
is if I manually search for cleanmgr(the name of disk
cleanup) right click it and hit "run as". It works
perfectly then. Any ideas why it won't come up
otherwise? All of the other system tools work(like
defragment, etc)

Yeah I downloaded that, but I dont think that is the
problem. Should I just copy that over the
original "cleanmgr"?

Tim;

cleanmgr = cleanmgr.exe

Should be in both of these places.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cleanmgr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\cleanmgr.exe
-----
Does the following open Disk Cleanup??

Start | Run | Type: cleanmgr | OK
============
Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools |
Right click: Disk Cleanup |
Is this the target??

%SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exe |
Click the Find Target button |
Does C:\WINDOWS\system32 open with cleanmgr.exe highlighted?? |
If not copy and paste: %SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exe |
Paste it into the Target window.

Try this:
Start | Run | Type: sfc /scannow | OK
Have your XP CD ready to stick in your CD drive.
=======

scannow sfc (sfc.exe)
