Problems with Component Services

I'm tryint to get Winfax network faxing working on Winfax ver 10.04 on 2
Windows XP Pro SP2 machines. I'm trying to follow the instructions from
Symantec which state:
To disable computer wide, remote Access Permissions to COM for Anonymous
Logon users , From the Start menu, click Settings > Control Panel.
....
Right-click My Computer, and click Properties.
In the My Computer Properties dialog box, on the COM Security tab, in the
Access Permissions group, click Edit Limits...

I performed all the steps on 1 computer with no problems. When I try to do
them on the other system, the "my computer" icon under component services has
a red downward pointing arrow and no "properties" are available when I right
click. This is really driving me nuts! Can someone please help. Thanks

Can you start the following services?

COM+ Event System
COM+ System Application
DCOM Process Server Launcher
Distributed Transaction Coordinator
System Event Notification

Can you disable any firewalls temporarily whilst checking it?

Can you post any event log errors for any errors relating to COM/DCOM/COM+
(from both system and application)?

I have been struggling to fix my Winfax problem now for over a month. I
managed to find my way back to this NG to review my previous posts. It
dawned on me that your "response" actually contained the answer to my
problem. Rather than just posting several links in your response with
virtually no information, why not just say "hey maybe your transaction log is
corrupt. Try msdtc -resetlog to rebuild it." Yeah it worked. Geez.
