Problems with Cached Exchange Mode

I have used OL2003 for a year or so - just reinstalled on new computer and
something odd occurs.

First, I am not asked whether to work online or offline at startup. But,
the most vexing problem is that the synchronization is slow. I seem to get
stalled on something called 'synchronizing hierarchy'. In addtiion, a number
of the KB articles say to go to File --> Cached exchange mode to make
changes. This option does not appear on my version.

HELP!!!

Are you attached to an Exchange server? If so, click Tools>E-mail
Accounts>Next. Select your Exchange account. Click Change, then More
Settings. On the General tab, select the "Manually control connection
state" radio button.

Are you running in cached Exchange mode? On the same settings as above,
click the Advanced tab and look in the middle section. Is "Use Cached
Exchange Mode" checked?

Thanks, Brian - one down - one to go - now have manual connection state
detection.

I do have 'cached exchange mode' selected. What I think I want to do is to
download full items rather than headers - according to MS KB documents that
would help - but I can't get to that item

Duh! I should have paid more attention to the subject. However, even if I
had, I'm not the best person to deal with cached Exchange mode. Perhap
someone else can jump in or you can visit the Exchange newsgroups.

Download headers option is only active for non-Exchange mail accounts. If
you have EX and some POP3 accounts in the same profile that selection is
active when you select one of the POP3 accounts.
