problems windows mail

I have vista home premium system.I had a problem start a week or so ago where
when i tried to open an attachment windows mail would not respond and then
shut down.Inow have a mail stuck in my out box which i cannot delete and now
cannot send out any other mail! Anybody help please?

Open the Outbox folder. Move as many of the Outbox messages
as you can to he Drafts folder. If any won't move or can't be deleted,
apply this Microsoft fix:
