Problems when you update to Defs 5721

Click on <File>, then on <Check for updates>.
The update, 5721, is downloaded and installed
without problems. The interface tells you you've
updated your software to Defs 5721.

However, if you continue to check for updates,
the update-checker continually tells you that
you need Defs 5721 and, in fact, continually
downloads and installs it. Again and again.

Yes, I tried rebooting several times.
In fact, when I click on <About>, I read:

"Spyware Definition Version: 5721".

However, when I go back and <Check for updates>,
the auto-updater doesn't tell me my software
is up to date. It continually tells me it
has to update from Definitions 5719 to
Definitions 5721. It then downloads 5721
and installs it again. And so it goes, on
and on.

Strange, I didn't have that problem on any of my computers when updating to
5721. Two of them are running Server 2003 and three have XP SP2 and one is
an XP SP1.

I should say the computers that I run for the company I work for. :) My
sorry butt can't afford 2003! :p

I have the same issue on both of my machines.
Have tried the following with no success:

Add/Remove - Update Program
Add/Remove - Remove Program then re-install
Deleting the files gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd and
gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd then updating again

Every time the update function says it updates from 5719 to 5721 and the
"about" status says 5721, but once the program is closed and reopened, the
status says 5719 again. Running the update again does not help.

As another poster mentioned, the MD5 hash does not match 5721. I also note
that 5719 does no appear in KB892519 so I cannot tell if the hash is for
5719.

This is the first time either of these PC's has had this issue.
