Problems Upgrading Image from SP1 to SP2

R

richard

I have a proven image from SP1 that I recently moved to SP2 and FP2007 at
once. I even tried to create an image from scratch. I am not using he
Cloning component and I have the Firewall turned off in SP2.

Several things not working....

Automatic Logon is no longer working for the administrator account. Double
checked the settings in Administrator account and in Automatic Logon.

When I try to share a drive now, I get that the service is not started, do
you wish to start? Tell it yes and it fails with Error 102.

Remote Desktop is no longer Working.

I checked for the obvious components but evidently something is different,
mostly Networking. I usually have about a dozen dependencies that I do not
resolve, such as dial up networking, but I even autoresolved with no luck.

Thanks for any insight.

Hi Richard,

Have you upgrade your image component within Target Designer? The
component needs to be upgraded has an arrow beside its icon... i
experienced the same problem with the RAS manager not accepting phone
calls.

Hope it helps.

I performed an auto update in Target Designer, as well as starting from
scratch with my tap.pmq file. I normally use the TCPIP Networking with File
Sharing Macro component, as well as terminal services and Remote Desktop. I
know some of the dependencies changed in SP2 as well as FP2007.

The autologon has me baffled as well. Did the functionality of this change?
When the login screen comes up and fails to login. There is no username or
password in the login prompt. Before it had administrator for the username.

Hi Richard,

Suprisingly the auto login still works after the SP2 upgrade...
likewise I had to upgrade the components within Target Designer via
Configuration -> Upgrade Component. After that I had to reload the
image from scratch, the problem i beforementioned went away...

I found your problem to be very strange... have you check your user
account component? Make sure there are two user accounts, one the
administrator and one a basic user...

Good luck...

I would recommend checking your symptoms after upgrading from SP1->SP2 first
to determine whether it's FP specific or not. Autologon works in SP2 and in
FP1, perhaps some advanced setting was lost?

For the sharing issue, I'm pretty sure (but may be wrong!) that the release
notes for SP2 mentioned the server service requires the Firewall (part of
the SP2 security work done in SP2 I believe). May be related to the error
you had when trying to share the drive?

Yes, after much digging, and reading how to do away with the firewall, I
finally ran across an article about it being required, but if I copy a file
over (can't remember if off hand) then it all works.

I found that it is very important on my image to add automatic logon as
close to last as possible. If it and Administrator account are added
towards the beginning things do not work.

Numerous dependencies have been broken from SP1 and SP2 requiring one to add
several more components to get networking to work that the dependency check
did not find.

I have a working image, although it is 80 megs larger than my SP1 image, and
that is without adding the firewall. I have to do some serious digging to
find out where the extra bloat is.

What is about the norm people seen their image grow from SP1 to SP2?

BTW, The file that must be copied over manually for Networking to Share
Drives is HnetCfg.dll
