problems starting up!

went on the computer on 30/1/04 it started as normal
booting but on the screen non of the icons came up and
neither did the start menu.you could move the mouse around
but nothing else on the mouse works!
norton antivirus detected
w32.Randex.gen virus
Backdoor.IRC.Aladinz H virus
is this a virus problem?
i recently god broadband!could it be this?

Here is a link to the randex virus write up on symantec. It sounds possible
that you are experiencing this while the virus runs it's payload.
