Hi,

I'm hoping someone would be able to help me... I'm at a loss.

I'm running an omnibook xt6200 with Windows XP (all updates installed). In
order for me to get my infrared to work on the laptop, I understand that I
need to create a new connection in my networking "group". So I go start ->
Settings -> Network Connections -> New Connections Wizard -> Advanced ->
Host -> Next and it returns with an error:

- Incoming Connections depend on the Routing and Remote Access service which
was unable to start. For more information, check the system event log. -

Which I do. The system event log returns the following , event ID 7024:

"
The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with service-specific error
340 (0x154).
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
"

The same is true for trying to start the service in administrative tools...
it just keeps throwing back the same error. I can't seem to find anything
for this problem on the web? Alternatively, is there any way to get around
this? i.e. software I could look at to utilise my infrared connection?

Thanks!
Brandon

Hi Cypher,
Brandon,

By default the IR port on you laptop is disabled. You have to enable the
port through the system BIOS. I got information from HP's website, directly
from the Omnibook xt6200 manual.

Thank you... however, I have lready done that. I can see the infrared device
in Windows - however, for me to enable the machine as a "host", the Routing
and Remote Access service needs to be started but I can't seem to start the
service for some reason (error 340, as per my previous post). Thanks for the
help though!

Regards,
Brandon
