Problems reinstalling my display driver

My computer was shoved this morning and then started constantly rebooting. I
stopped auto reboot and found that my display driver (nv4_disp) was the
problem.

Since I the display works just fine in safe mode, I re-downloading,
uninstalled, and reinstalled the drivers for my 3d Prophet II card. I still
can't boot normally.

And really oddly, in safe mode windows will let me change my resolution to
32bit 1024x768, but when I click OK nothing happens. At least the system
doesn't lock up!

Not sure where to go from here. Already tried a couple restore points. Any
alternatives to reinstalling XP?

Did you check to see that the video card did not become partially dislodged
when the computer was shoved?

Loose card was absolutely the problem I had with a machine I was
working on. I went to examine for overheated capacitors as a last
resort & found the card was nearly half unseated. Reseating fixed
BSOD, MS login, network login & Novell warning errors. Like you I
could only operate in safe mode before that.

The fact that there were 4 MS updates, Java update & Symantec update
the day her problems started - were apparently an ill-timed
coincidence.
