Problems opening Outlook

When I click on any of the shortcuts or even the
outlook.exe icon, a window (Title window?) showing
Outlook 2000 opens and hangs. Using Ctl-Alt-Del I can
close the window otherwise it just sits there and goes
nowhere. I tried using the procedure in Article
252304, "Unable to open the outlook window when you start
outlook." I modified the registry according to the
instructions, but there was no change. I restored the
registry to its original state.
What else can I try to get this to open? Thanks.

Does Outlook start in safe mode?

How to:
* Select Start | Run
* Type: outlook.exe /safe
* OK button

If the answer is yes, try renaming outcmd.dat to outcmd.bak while all e-mail
enabled applications are closed.

Thanks for the tips....I haven't tried them yet...but
wanted to thank you for your advice...I'll let you know
how it turns out.

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.
