Problems opening a 'crashed' database

I am trying to opening a database which is normally
updated over night by a scheduling program. It appears the
database crashed last night &, when trying to open it this
morning, I receive the
message "'c:\@data\SalesOrderStatus.mdb' isn't an index in
this table.Look in the Indexes collection of teh Tabledef
object to determine valid index names". On clicking the
OK button the database closes again. I've also tried to
compact, repair and copy the database objects into a new
database.
Any ideas how I can open it ?

If anyone's interested the compacting utility JetComp.exe
in system32 worked
