Problems loading a particular web page.

Recently I started having problem loading a particualr web page that never
gave me problems before.

I get the same error message whether I use my Internet Explorer Browser of
my Firefox Browser. I contacted the web master who said there was no problem
on their end and he verified I had the correct IP address. The technician at
my Internet Service Provider had no problem accessing the web site. I have 2
firewalls. It does not matter which one I turn off (Windows or McAfee), I
still get the error message. I've cleared the DNS cache. Still no luck. My
Operating System is Windows XP with the SP2 upgrade. I have these for quite
awhile now.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

The site is "Archive on Demand"

The error message in IE is:
"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be
experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings."

In erroe message in Firefox is:
"Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.archiveondemand.com."

The website loads fine here, but there is quite a lot of Flash stuff
going on. Perhaps you have a third-party security program that has
turned off Flash? Only you know what you have installed on your
computer so you'll need to look at your security software/settings.
Since the issue happens in more than one browser, it is obviously not
browser-related.

So what changed between the time you could get to the site and the time
you couldn't? Update any security software? Install anything new?

Looks like the web server is misconfigured. Try to get to this ...

http://216.22.25.231/

which is supposed to be the ip address of: http://www.archiveondemand.com/
and you'll see it doesn't resolve properly.

Contact the host.

The only thing I can think of that I did was to update my McAfee Antivirus
program. Security settings have not changed. I am on a home computer. No
local area network.

Check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc for a file named HOSTS with no
extension. (Not Hosts.sam)
Make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders and is NOT set to
hide extensions for known file types.
If HOSTS exists, rename it to HOSTS.OLD
Reboot an try again.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.

Still can not connect to the web page. Renamed Hosts file to "hosts.old",
flushed the DNS cache, deleted Temporary Internet Files, and rebooted. Also
have "show hidden files" selected. Hosts.old has this written:
Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.

# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should

Calling it quits for the day on this problem. Been at the computer for
hours. Need a break (and a life). Thanks to all who took time to help me
out.

It could be a problem with the macromedia flash install. Uninstall /
reinstall Flash.

Thnaks to all who helped me with this problem. It apparently resolved
itself a few days ago. I can now get on the web site. As far as I can tell,
it just "happened" to start getting through again.
