problems installing powerpoint

K

KJ McDonnell

I have powerpoint 2002, and I successfully installed it on
my old desktop. I now have a new laptop with windows xp,
and when I try to install powerpoint, I keep getting a
message that says it can not find a qualifying product on
my harddrive. I have no clue what that means, and I have
lots of powerpoint slide shows from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

It means that you are trying to install an upgrade to PowerPoint 2002. An
upgrade requires that the system has a previous version of PowerPoint
installed, or that you have the installation CD for the previous version
placed in your CD drive. Otherwise you are not qualified to apply the
upgrade. Try it again and see whether it gives you the opportunity to
locate the previous version (qualifying product). If it does, put your
original installation CD in the drive and point to it.
