Problems Getting Vista Basic to Boot.

I just got a brand new Toshiba Satellite laptop, about two days ago. It came
preinstalled with Windows Vista Basic. When I turn on the laptop, it shows
the Toshiba loading screen and then prepares to load Vista. The laptop makes
it up to the Preparing Your Desktop screen, and then the laptop locks up. I'm
not sure what's causing this.

He's not asking for MS Support, he's asking for user support.

Usually I'm on the MVP's side when it comes to things, but wow your posts
today are really useless.

Have a heart, dude!

Being only 2 days old I would not even hesitate on bringing it back to the retailer that it was purchased from

Is this a first time boot situation, or was it working previously?

I know that a lot of the OEM desktop & laptop systems require about 30+
minutes to finish the install of all their extra stuff before the desktop
appears.

I also have a Toshiba Satellite and haveing the exact same problem. Mine
however is 6 months old and I am upgrading. Any ideas on where to start??

Have you tried booting it into Safe Mode? Could be bad factory install, you
could try reinstalling the software over the existing installation.
