Problems applying QFE 811279

Hi,

I am using the XPe with SP1 Evaluation suite. Using MSDE
8.00.761. The development machine is XP Prof SP1.

i am trying to apply QFE 811279 but get the following
error;

QFE Installer Error

A new platform object needs to be installed before this
update can be installed. Please download the latest
platform update from
www.microsoft.com/embedded and install it before
attempting to install this QFE
Setup cannot continiue

I need to apply this fix so that I may then apply
subsequent fixes. Searches of the web have shown that
others have had this problem but I can't find a
satisfactory solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Robin,

You may need to install Q811279 first - Repository look-up may cause
incorrect files to be copied.

Thanks for the response. Maybe I did not explain
properly. I get the error message when trying to apply
QFE811279.

Robin,

I did not read your post carefully. Sorry about that. Now I see that you
mentioned that exact QFE Q811279.
That is weird though. Most of us had problems installing different QFEs that
required Q811279 be installed prior and we saw the error message you
mentioned. However, now the QFE goes in one SP2 roll and this is different
from what I saw.
Sorry, I can't help you but someone who has installed new Q811279 may.

Hi,

Thanks for your time. It turns out the image I had to
install from wasn't the SP1 version. So not surprised the
QFE failed to install.
