But USB drive are unaccessible (the system asks for login/pass .... and none
of them are working)

Can someone help ??

TY

With what file system is the USB drive formatted?

What are the file and directory permissions on the Root/Folders on the
drive?
Can the local user access them without trouble?
I assume you have simple file sharing turned off?

OK share is not disable because fixed drive or firewire drive are working.
So this is not sharing causing the problem

The samed drive removed from the usb device and put in firewire device can
be shared. So this is not the drive.
So this is not the drive causing of the problem

USB is faulty ...but why ?

It is a little to early to say that your USB disk is faulty.
The following should give us a better idea about what's
going on.
1. Click Start / Run
2. Type cmd {OK}
3. Type the following lines and report the output from EACH line:
net share USBShare=X:\
net use U: \\%ComputerName%\USBShare
dir U:\

Important: Replace X: above with the correct drive letter
for your USB drive! It's probably E: or F:.

He never indicated the hard drive, whether in the firewire or USB enclosure
was faulty. He said the same hard drive works/shares in the firewire
enclosure. SAME hard drive will not share in the USB enclosure, indicated
no use failure locally in the USB enclosure.

USB causes the problem

System error 1130 has occurred.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

This condition is usually handled by applying the latest service pack.
Sometimes it is caused by NAV or IBM AV:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;177078

You did not actually say which of the two "net.exe" commands
generated this error message. Furthermore, does it occur when
applied to folders residing on an internal hard disk?

OK
so i have none of the AV that are in the KB

I've increased the IRPStackSize to 50
and rebooted

And my problem is still here.

Unless you test my commands with a folder located on an internal
hard disk, you are unlikely to find out if the problem is caused by
your USB drive/driver or something else.

It seem's you did not re-apply the latest service pack either.

Have a look at Google. It gives me more than 600 hits for your
error message.

Stan,
Even if you get the problem fixed with USB connected hard drive sharing,
would stay with Firewire. Less XP overhead. Firewire is a network adapter
in XP with or without a working firewire network connection. USB is not.
Using Firewire connected hard drive for image backups, and filesharing with
my laptop. Using the firewire dual port connection on the external firewire
enclosure to connect PC and laptop together. Have two unused USB 2.0 ports
remaining, and will probably remain that way.

I tested your command

That's why i can told you i got the System error 1130

:-)

And i still get this error

Apparently problem is solved

I change the IRPStackSize in the registry to 50 with no results.... Because
it is case sensitive and misspelled in the MS KB. The right typing is
IrpStackSize to 50 ...and it works !

I have to test it after a complete reboot (because i only test it with
server service restart)

TY for your support

I too have this problem with the USB not showing in the Network.
I tried the MS IrpStacksize mod, but still no joy.

When I run the command
net use U: \\%ComputerName%\USBShare

I get an error '05' - The local Device name is already in Use.

Anyone any suggestions

Have you tried any drive letters other than U:?
