I have had a long running problem with getting updates Regardless whether
through automatic updates or manually from the site. When I go to the
updates site it says I need to update windows software. I select the intall
button (recommended) I have also tried "custom install" but that did not
help. It comes up with an message unable to install uypdates. When I review
my history it has pages mostly through automatic updates. The error givin :

Error Code: 0x80246008

I have done a search for this on the web, and I am not the only one. There
are a few suggestions mainly about reseting a registry, but when I do that it
says not found, or just says ok. But still not luck with the updates.

Any help please.

David

Thanks. But this didn't work. I tried both methods with no luck. the first
resolution did not accept the command line. it says "too few comand-line
parameters..." any further idea.

When I did the second resolution method, I installed it all as described.
When I tried to start the BITS it gives error message -2147024891. I cannot
find this in the KB only -2147024891.
