Problem with windows xp sp2 and Norton Internet Security 2004

After installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 my internet connection
stopped working; I could not do any browsing or download my email.
As I thought, the problem was generated by a conflict between
Microsoft and Norton firewalls, but I tried to disable the Microsoft
firewall and things were still not working. The only way to make it
work again was to disable "Security" from the Norton console; just
disabling "personal firewall" from Norton was not enough.
I just wanted to share my experience in case other people might have
the same problem.

I am having the same problem. When SP2 installed along with Norton, I
do not have internet access. Disabling Norton Firewall allows
internet access. The Microsoft Firewall is OFF. Microsoft Security
Center still shows the Norton Firewall ON when I have Norton turned
off.

I've run Live Update several times and I'm current with all Symantec
updates.

Have you tried a program scan within the Norton's firewall configuration- it may
need to be refreshed. Just an idea.

Thanks for the idea, but this did not work either. Still no internet
access with the Norton Firewall enabled.

I have the same problems , it appears. All was ok with 2003 firrewall. Did
update to Windows SP2.at the same time. Aftrer going through about 12
suggestion sheets from Norton and deleting and re-installing, what little
hair I have is fast leaving me.
I'm wondereing if you've had any luck in resolving this problem and still
using 2004 firewall? Thanx
