Problem with Windows Update

Windows update seems to fail on a newly installed W2K Server. once clicked on "Scan for Updates" on the Welcome page, it come back with error message "Windows update error: Windows update has encounter an error nad cannot display the requested message".

Has anyone experienced the same thing and how can it be resolved.

Are you on Service Pack 4 ?

YES

Does it give you any kind of error code?

Did you by chance delete any default certificates from this server?

Re-creating the administrator profile seems to resolve the problem.
