Hello, I am having problems opening windows task manager. Right clicking the
menu bar i can see the "task manager" but nothing happens when i click it.
The control alt delet dosnt work or the ctrl shft esc. but when i put it into
run... it says
"Another program is using this file" so i ran scans and didnt find anything.
My comp. does seem a bit slow but not sure if its due to this. any help is
great thanks

This is usually symptomatic of virus infection. If you do not have a
current version (not earlier than 2004) antivirus installed with an
active subscription and updated definitions, scan with either Sysclean
or Dave Lipman's Multi-AV. Then follow the non-viral malware removal
steps in the links below (which also has links to Sysclean):

Thanks Malke, all things do point to a virus, especially since when i turned
my computer on this morning i had a screen saver of Bush and Chenny that i
have never seen before, and I did just renew my Norton but it seems the virus
has beaten me to it, and infected my Norton Live Update and renewal , so i am
in the process of contacting Norton A.V. and trying to get it solved, i will
give and update, thanks for your time NC

You will probably need to uninstall/reinstall NAV. Don't try and install
NAV onto an infected machine. Instead, scan with either Sysclean or
Multi-AV as I suggested in my first answer to you. Then
uninstall/reinstall NAV, update its definitions, and do a thorough scan
in Safe Mode. Do not connect to the Internet unprotected; it would be
better to get NAV's updated definitions from another known-clean
machine and either burn them to cd-r or copy to a usb thumbdrive to
take back to your machine.
