I had a problem with windows xp, so i put in my disc from the maufacturer and
installed a fresh version(thinking this would erase the previous version of
xp and all files on the drive) this didnt happen, what i ended up with was 2
xp operating systems on the same drive! I need to know how to get rid of
these so i can start fresh! All i wanted to do was format my drive :(
Can anyone help?!

You can do this a number of ways but if you're just now getting to the point
where it's just been installed and you don't want to fiddle with it too much
you can head to this site:

http://winguide.info/learn_installing_windows_xp_from_dos_mode.htm

The fourth image down - when you get to that screen - you can just delete
anything there and then setup the OS and that will ensure that you're
leaving no traces of the problematic install behind. It's probably the
easiest way...

You can also dig through (I have no idea what the conditions of the install
are or even if it's now offering you dual boot for instance) the various
folders and try to figure out which is which and delete them. If it's now
offering you two boot choices you can then edit the boot.ini to reflect just
the single OS. Really, if you haven't come that far (installing your apps,
setting up the PC, etc) yet and just did this a short while ago the first
method will likely be much easier.

Sorry to take so long to reply but the first link that I gave you has
complete instructions with pictures. I'm not sure what more I can offer to
add to that list of instructions?

It's really recommended to skip the floppy all together. Put the XP CD into
the tray and boot the PC and when prompted to do so "press any key to boot
to CD" and you're on your way. First you'd want to (as you want to delete
everything) delete the partitions then setup in a new partition using all of
the space available and follow the setup from there. The second time you
boot you will, again, be prompted to boot from CD but that time you will NOT
press any key but rather let it go on and do it's setup.
