Problem with windows explorer

Well, let me start by saying that I already had this problem with the windows
explorer once but, that time, I was able to fix it, I just don't remember how
and now I don't know what to do to fix this problem.

When I open any folder on the windows explorer I can see the icons of all
the files the folder has. The problem is that when I press the right-button
of the mouse on a file (any file) the pc starts to slow down and the mouse
pointer almost drags through the screen and it only stops when I left click
outside that window the pc starts to act normally.

Here is my computer's config
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ processor with 256 MB of RAM, 120 GB disk.
Windows XP Home Edition SP2

Can any help me?

First of all, thaks for the quick answer. Second I've tried disabling all
the non-Microsoft context menu handlers but still the problem remains. I
wonder if it is any microsoft program that is causing this?

This right-click problem happens wth almost every file type (from mp3, to
avi, to doc, etc)

Can you provide further assistance ?

You're welcome for the quick answer. You could try the method of bisecting
the list of context menu handlers, mentioned in the section marked "Tip" at
the website that I posted in my first response.

Also, have a look at this MSKB article to see if it helps:

Temporary Decline in Performance Occurs When You Right-Click a File or
Folder in Windows Explorer

Well, aparently the problem was solved with the suggestion from the last link
you sent. Lets just wait and see if the performance of the pc doesn't decline
through out the day. But I've tried right-clicking the mouse on different
type of files several times and the computer always responded normally. I've
even enble some of the context menu handlers that I had disabled (the
antivirus and winrar) and it worked fine, even with Windows Media Player
running. So I think the problem is solved.

Thank you so much for the quick answers (and sorry for the delay in my last
reply - it was already past my bedtime).

I'll keep in touch if anything bad happens - hopefully not.

Once again thanks because I was really close to 'format c:'
