Problem with USB HDD

I have been using a 30 G HDD in a external USB case for a while on my
XP machine without any problems then today when I tried to copy a 4 G
compressed file to it I got a message that there was not enough space,
even though it had 13 G of free space. I checked the drive with
Microsoft disk check and Norton System Works 2006 Disk Doctor with the
free space box checked but they found no problem. I still can't copy
the file.

Thanks
Mike

If drive is FAT32, max file size is 4Gb -1byte, this does not apply to
NTFS.
Mike.
