Norton Personal Firewall? What version?

What version is displayed in Add/Remove Programs?

Was an earlier version of any Norton application ever installed?

Go to Symantec's web site and download symnrt, msifix and symmsicleanup
which will remove the parts that remain.

Hi PA Bear,
It was Norton Firewall 2005 which had previously been installed,
and the same version is shown in Add Remove Programs. It did remove the
program on uninstalling but left the program name with no file size.
A version of Norton Anti Virus had been istalled previously i think it
was 2004.

Hi PABear,
Thanks for your help much appreciated.
I have run the Norton Removal Tool and sadly Norton Firewall is stil
showing in Add/Remove Programs list with no file size. I cannot remov
or uninstall the program as there is nothing to remove,
When i try to install it. i agree the licence, it then asks me were
want it installed i click next and then it says it is installin
program, the cd starts up and then after a few seconds stops an
nothing more happens.
I can say that i have now been able to install Norton Anti virus 200
which i could not do before, so at least some good has come of m
enquiry.
Thanking you once again,
Gogogadgetlegs.

I have run the Norton Removal Tool...

Which removal tool did you run (e.g., SymNRT)?

Did you follow all parts of Steps 1 & 2 on this page?...
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

What happens when you select Norton (Personal) Firewall (NPF) 2005 in
Add/Remove Programs and choose Uninstall? Are you offered an option to
remove its listing from Add/Remove Programs?

Any chance that NPF 2005 was installed as part of Norton Internet Security
(NIS) 2005 suite?

Hi PA Bear,
I folowed steps 1 and 2 on Norton Removal Tool and then re-installed
anti virus but could not re-install Firewall, this program is not part
of NIS 2005 suite.
When i select NPF in add/remove programs i am offered the choice of
Change/Remove but nothing happens.
Since i have used the Norton Removal Tool i am now getting a box on
screen at startup as follows:-

SYSDOC32.EXE This application has failed to start because S32STAT.DLL
was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem"

SYSDOC32.EXE is a file associated with Norton Disk Doctor (NDD), which was
included in older versions Norton System Works (I think). It's not included
in NAV 2006.

You'd better get further help from Symantec Support:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/index.html

All sorts of handy and safe freeware apps can remove NPF from the A/RP list.
Tweak-UI is one, I believe. See
