Problem with TV after FM?

Does anybody else have problems watching TV after using the FM Tuner?
I'm using MMC version 9.08 on an AIW X600 Pro, and the TV sound comes
in as static if I try watching TV after using the FM tuner. It's even
a problem if I use SageTV, so I assume it's a problem with the
drivers. Once I reboot, the TV works perfectly well, until I use the
FM tuner again.

I take it that the FM tuner is on the PC card!!! It's not the FM tuner in
the TV!!!

It sounds like the tuner in the PC once tuned to some station is
interfering with the TV. Try switching off the PC or tuning the PC to some
other frequency or the TV on another station. Move the PC well away from
the TV, cover the PC with kitchen aluminum foil and try a ferrite bead on
any PC cables going to the PC tuner card. Oh yes make sure all the metal
covers are correctly attached to both the PC and TV. Screws tight, finger
tight don't twist the heads off.

The EMC guy.

Maybe I'm not being clear. At no time am I talking about an actual TV
or radio.

The AIW X600 Pro has both a TV tuner and an FM tuner. Or maybe
they're the same tuner, because you can only use one of them at a
time. The ATI MMC program is used for both of them, "ATIMMC.exe /TV"
runs it in TV mode, and "ATIMMC.exe /FM" runs it in FM mode.

After a reboot, both portions of the program (FM and TV) work
perfectly well. BUT, if I run the FM portion at any time, I need to
reboot before I use the TV portion. If I don't reboot, the sound on
the TV portion is INCREDIBLY LOUD static. On every channel. It seems
to me that the FM tuner portion of the program isn't releasing some
part of the tuner properly, or maybe the TV portion of the program
isn't initializing the TV audio tuner properly.

Regardless, I was wondering if somebody else was having the same
problem. I opened a help ticket with ATI, and they sent me to some
garbage portion of their site talking about improperly installed sound
card drivers. They don't seem to understand the cause and effect
portion of my problem. And this problem has followed me across a
complete system format and re-install, so I doubt improperly installed
drivers is the problem.

Oh, and BeyondTV has absolutely no problems whatsoever. Using it I
can switch between FM and TV continually without having to reboot.
Like I said, it's a problem with the ATI MMC program. I'm just too
cheap to shell out another $70 for something that should work out of
the box.

Sorry, that's not EMC, like you say it's in the software. Maybe they don't
switch the bandwidth back to 100kHz form 8MHz, tons of stuff for someone to
sift through to get to the bottom of that. I find it really surprising the
almost but not quite there yet stuff that gets released..
