Not all of the text entered into the cell displays (total
text length is 1,881 characters). Cell is set to text
format, auto-fit row height, alignment-wrap text.

The text that doesn't display is visible in the edit
window, but doesn't show in the cell.

From Help

Length of cell contents (text) 32,767 characters.
Only 1,024 display in a cell; all 32,767 display in the formula bar.

Ron,

This seems to be the answer. Although in my case 1,201
characters seem to be visible in the cell against 1,881 in
the formula bar.

Thanks.

Dave Peterson has previously posted the following advice:

One way to see more than the (about) 1000 characters per cell is to add
a few alt-enters to force linebreaks within the cell.
