On my home network, one of the computers is not able to connect to some web
pages.

For instance, I can connect to google.com and yahoo.com but I can't reach
hotmail.com or microsoft.com

Also, I can't connect to MSN Messenger.

Here is my configuration:

PC #1 (Working fine)
Windows XP Pro
Directly connected to the Internet using a DSL connection.

PC #2 (The one who got the problem)
Windows 98se
Connected to PC #1 with a crossover ethernet cable

All firewalls on PC #1 have been disactivated.

What can I do to solve the problem?

This is a common problem with shared DSL connections that use PPP Over
Ethernet (PPPoE). Here are some possible fixes. Any one of them
should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2 on the ICS host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computer, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computer, or use
DrTCP to make it:

http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:

Michel,

Check your MTU settings.
