problem with shared fax

I am running windows sbs 2003, brooktrout fax board in the server, dell 1750
with 4gb ram.

I installed the board after initial setup. Windows 2003 has a brooktrout
driver, so the device driver is installed. I initially loaded gfi faxmaker,
then had to unload it as it doesn't yet function with windows2003. I
unloaded shared fax, unloaded gfi's drivers, and generally tried to clean up
after gfi's mess.

Windows found the native brooktrout drivers.

I then reloaded windows fax services.

However, after loading the shared fax service, windows does not identify the
device as a fax. The faxinit service fails, with error 3, "the system
cannot find the path specified."

Faxinit appears to depend on a service called bfax which is also not loaded.
Indeed, bfax is not listed as a service.

In the registry, Bfax calls to a file in system32/drivers called bfax.sys,
which is present.

Faxinit's imagepath points to %SystemRoot%\bfax\runfaxin.exe. I do not have
a directory windows\bfax, never mind runfaxin.exe.

So...How do I convince windows 2003 to load this directory and programs?

thanks
