Problem with Program

I installed the program and ran a search on my computer.
I found several spyware programs my other programs had
missed, one of them being Webenhancer. I used the
microsoft program to delete this spyware and it also
deleted my sporder.dll file in my C:\I386 folder. I could
not access any program on my computer after this file was
erased. I could only get my computer to work right again
after using system restore. I would like to use the
microsoft spyware program, but I would not like to risk
it erasing important windows files when it deletes
spyware. Thank you.

Unfortunately that is part of a beta. If you're not prepared to do a system
restore or in some cases a complete rebuild, don't attempt to install a beta
product.

But you did provide something useful that may help in building a better
product.

The same exact thing happened to me. I reinstalled
Microsoft Anti-Spyware but I chose to ignore the
WebEnhancer with the sporder.dll file. I will use this
software with caution next time and will continue to trust
Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy until the final
product of this thing comes out without glitches.

This is at least the 4th or 5th person reporting problems with sporder.dll.
This has given me an idea for MS. Obviously, MS has access to all the dll's
and stuff that Windows uses. So if it is known that Webenhancer overwrites
this dll, rather than simply deleting it, why not have AntiSpyware download
the dll from an MS server? Therefore, it won't simply disappear, it will be
replaced by the genuine dll. This would not only be useful, it would be
something that no competitor could provide as it would be against the MS
EULA for them to redistribute these dlls. So it would make fixing spyware
significantly easier for users, and it would give the MS product a leg up on
everyone else.

Ads served by Webenhancer and Adsite

I did battle with Webenhancer's infection of IE7 by doing this:

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Manage Add-ons, find Webenhancer in the list, highlight it, and click Disable.

The ads then disappeared, along with another annoying feature, of IE opening many windows when it is opened, most of them with ads.

I could have left well enough alone by stopping there, but I searched my computer for "Webenhancer."

There all the time was a folder under C:/Programs/Webenhancer. This had an Uninstall program in it, which I had enough sense not to touch. I went into Safe Mode and deleted that folder and its contents. I suppose that was a mistake, as when I rebooted, Ads served by Adsite had infected my Firefox. To get rid of that, I uninstalled Firefox, used ATF Cleaner to eliminate junk, and rebooted.

Now my IP address was somehow removed and I had to reboot my modem (and computer) to get it back.

I reinstalled Firefox, and now everything is OK. Apparently. I'm tentatively delcaring success.

I had previously run all sorts of anti spyware programs, including smitfraudfix and Microsoft's Windows Defender. They were not effective against Webenhancer.
