Dad2k

I used Powerpoint(win2000) to create vacation slide
shows. using win2000 I have a large number of digital
pics in one directory (319 large jpg's). The win2000
version while running in Win2000 provides an almost
instantaneous listing of these files when selecting a pic
for insertion into a slide (<Alt>IPF). I've just
upgraded to a faster PC with more memory and win XP.
Now, while using Powerpoint (win2000) in the upgraded
computer, the same insert takes minutes! It's unusable.
I've tried different views but to no avail.

Any advice?

Hi, Dad2k.

PowerPoint (and the rest of Microsoft Office) is NOT married to a specific
operating system, such as Windows 2000. PowerPoint 2000 should run just
fine on Win9x/ME or on WinNT4/2K/XP. You may, if you like, upgrade to
Microsoft Office XP, which includes PowerPoint 2002 - but I don't think that
would fix the problem you are having.

I suggest you post your question to the PowerPoint newsgroup. They probably
can help you better on this problem. Don't tell them you have PowerPoint
for Win2K; tell them you have PowerPoint 2000 - if that's what you have -
running on WinXP.
