Problem with Page Break Review setting

A long-established, 4mb spreadsheet has dramatically slowed in the last few
days, now using 100% cpu and taking around 10 seconds to accept any cell
alteration.
The problem goes away if I change View mode to Normal, but reappears if View
is set at Page Break Review.
The only 'system' activity that I can think of around the time of the
appearance of this problem was freeing up disk space following MS's advice on
Feb 03. This included removing downloaded program files and running Disk
Cleanup.

Check the setting under Tools>Options>Calculation and un-check 1904 date
system. That's your issue
