Problem with NumLock

I use Windows XP SP2 on my Aspire 5670 Notebook. And I have the following
problem: When I tried to install USB number Pad in order to use it I have to
switch on NumLock. So the USB num pad works but the keys of the laptop also
work as a numbers. I suppose it is matter of some OS setup, because the other
notebooks work with no problems, but I don't know how to do that.

To have numbers lock on at boot up:
Click start--run--type in regedit --click OK
Navigate to HKEY_USERS\Default\controlpanel\keyboard
Set keyboard ind to 2
