Problem with numbers not displayed correctly

There is a problem with how numbers are displayed in my version of
excel 2007. When I copy formulas to new cells, numbers are not
displayed correctly (the stored values seem to be correct, though).
For example:

A1 = 1
A2 = 5
A3 = 1000

If I set cell B1=A2/A1, the value 5 is shown (correct). If I copy this
formula to cell B2, which yields B2=A3/A2, the value 5 is shown
(incorrect). In fact, when I copy formulas to new cells, the formulas
are updated as they should, but the number of the new cell is always
displayed as the number of the original cell.

The problem does not occur if I type in the formulas manually, only
when I copy formulas.

Has anyone else experienced this or know how it can be solved?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sound like you have Calculations set to 'manual'
Delete the formulas in B2 and B3 and recopy them from B1
DO you see "Calculate" in the status bar next to "Ready" (bottom left
corner of Excel Screen)?
Click the Office button (colourful circle at left of Ribbon); click Excel
Options (at bottom of dialog)
Select Formulas from the left panel
Change Workbook Calculation to Automatic by clicking that box
Click OK
All should be well now
best wishes

Hi,

And for the future - you can reach the Excel Option by pressing Alt+1 or by
adding the Excel Options toolbar button to your QAT.
