Problem with msflxgrd.ocx in vista

C

Craig Armitage

Hi

I have an access 2007 database ive made in Windows XP that uses msflxgrd.ocx
for some activex elements. The customer has Vista and Access 2007 but
whenever I try to open the form that has the FlexGrid it gives me object
errors.

Ive copied the msflxgrd.ocx from the Windows XP install to the Vista install
but it doesnt seem to work. If i try and create a new control I get a
License Error.

help!

How did you register it? I'm just starting to tackle Vista problems, but I
believe you need to register it as admin.

It's also not in the list of Vista's supported vb6.0 runtime files, it's in
the list of "tested" files though.. but tested and works or tested and
failed.. who knows.

This is all 2nd hand info.. so I make no promises.

I think you need to go to c:\windows\system32 and right click cmd.exe and
choose run as admin, then run regsrv32..

That may or may not work.. maybe somebody with more experience with Vista
can verify or reject this. Just something I heard some people talking about
around the office a few days ago. I don't get my vista box for a few more
days.. then I get to join in on the testing fun.

I think the problem is that you don't have the license to distribute
the ocx in design mode on the machine, and Access (and all VBA)
projects are always in design mode. If you try deploying on a Vista
machine with VB6 Pro installed and it works, I think that may prove
that it's a licensing issue. I'm having the same problem by the way.
I'm thinking very seriously about finding a freeware grid or just
writing one because I'm sick of these deployment problems, which seems
even worse in Vista than ever.... *sigh*
