Problem with monitor display

My screen is making a frequent fluctuating or "breathing" motion. I had
thought the problem was in the monitor itself, so changed to a new monitor.
It's still happening, but not as extreme. It started after installing sp3
for the dotNet Framework 1.0. I tried a restore to a point prior to the
installation, but that didn't fix it. Someone have a hint what else to try?

Hi Jon,

Check the display properties for your video card. See if you find anything
in there that might be causing this - I would look at refresh rate first, it
might be very low - usually will cause flickering, not sure about "
breathing".

I would doubt an update to the .net framework would have caused something
like this. You might also make sure you have your vid card's latest drivers.

Locate your monitors Degaussing function. Magnetic fields can
affect a monitor, if a set of unshielded speakers are set close to
the monitor.
Many monitors will do an automatic Degaussing on power on.
So if your monitor doesn't have a function for it, try power cycling
your monitor off and on a few times.

I am having a major problem with the display of my monitor. I tried the menue
settings and that didn't work either. I have distorted text with tints of red
in my text. I don't know what is going on here. Is that what your problem is
or do you have an answer as to how to solve this problem. I didn't have this
problem when I first got my computer up and running after installing
WindowsXP Service Pack 2. It started after about 2 days of use. HELP

Please don't hijack someone else's thread, even if you think your
problem is similar. It makes it very hard to give both posters good
answers. It sounds like your monitor is going. First check to make sure
the connection is good, that there are no bent pins. Then connect your
pc to a different monitor. If the display is good, you know the problem
is with your original monitor. If the display is bad, then you know
your video card has a problem.
