Problem with modal/popup form

Can anyone help me out of a hole i've got into. I have a database with a
single form. The form is set to modal and popup, and the only way out is to
use an Exit button on the form. its onclick method obeys Application.Quit so
that control is not returned to access itself.

Unfortunately I also used tools>startup to go striaght to this form on
opening the database.

This combination means that I can no longer get to design mode for the
database. Is there any way that I can patch the .mdb file to remove the
automatic entry to the form on startup?

Hold the shift key while opening the file. You can probably also right-click
the modal form and go to design view. Once there the form will no longer be
modal and you should be able to do anythign you want.

will bypass the opening form and take you to the Objects Dialog Box.

Unfortunately it did not work. On opening with shift held down all the
access menus appeared, but it then went straight into my modal form - so I
could not actually use any of the menus. My form has the right click menu
disabled, so again the only way out is with its own quit key - and that quits
the application and therefore closes Access.

So I am still stuck with being unable to access design mode on this database.

Good News,

I've found that holding down shift does work after all. Previously I was
entering from an icon which goes straight to the database. If I enter from
Access itself then "shift" does work. Thank you very much.

I enter the database from the Access screen rather than from an ion going
straight to the database.

It *should* work. Have you or someone else at some stage disabled the
bypass key?

You probably weren't holding shift long enough. There should be no difference
between double-clicking the file and opening Access first. If you get the
security prompts (Access 2003 only) then you have to continue to hold shift as
you respond to them.
