Problem with Microsoft Outlook

I Did everything support told me yesterday 7/17/07. But still having the same
problem, didn't solve my problem. Change the pst.txt, Unchecked Read only,
Put the pst.txt in another location. C:/My Documents/Myoutlook/pst.txt/,
Still the same problem, Click on Microsoft Outlook, Click on Inbox, The Email
Freezes, 12,000emails, So I was wondering if I should unistall Microsoft
Office 2000, Install Then. Or is there another way to delete this much email.
Please give me some advice on this issue, This is very frustrating, Can't
open my email, I check my Isp also, Called At+T, Then told me to call
Microsoft Support. They want 50.00 just to talk to them, If nothing works, I
guess, I will just uninstall, The reinstall Microsoft Office 2000. Any advice
would sure be helpful.

You need to reply to the original post to keep things together. A new post
doesn't make sense without the previous info. Only thing I notice is that
there is no outlook file named pst.txt. The Outlook file is called
Outlook.pst.

What is the overall size of your .PST file (as Mary said, the file will most
likely be called Outlook.pst; it will not have a .txt file extension)? In
Outlook 2000, the absolute maximum size for a .PST file is 2GB, but you will
start seeing problems anywhere from 1GB on up (and the file will be unusable
at 2GB).

Hi Jocelyn, Sorry but I made a mistake the file is outlook.pst and it has
447MB, but my email say 12,000. I ran the repair tool whatever that is called
Scanpst.exe, I think, but that didn't solve the problem, The problem when I
go into Microsoft Outlook, I click on Inbox-12,000email, It freezes, I click
on View, It freezes, Is there a way to solve this problem, If nothing works,
I think I will Uninstall Office 2000, Reinstall it. If you have any
suggestions or advice, I would appreciate that.

My file was called Outlook.pst, it is saved in
c:/MyDocuments/Myoutlook/Outlook.pst which has 447Mb on the file, Not 1.5Gb,
But my email says 12,000, It freezes when I click Inbox, I ran ScanPst.exe, I
think that what the repair tool is called, But it says there is no problems
with the file, So I am getting frustrated at the moment. Should I just
Uninstall, The Reinstall, Using Remove Programs, Or what a At+t says, just
run the software disk, That will override this program, any suggestions or
advice, I would appreciate that, Thanks, Ray.

Try creating a new Outlook Profile (Control panel-Mail) and opening the pst
file with the new profile.

How to you create an Outlook Profile, I right click but I do not see any
option where I can create a new folder by right clicking, Do I have to open a
certain folder to do this in the control panel, Be more specific, I cannot
create a folder by right clicking in the control panel.

As I said - Control panel-Mail. Then click on Show profiles. You did click
on Show profiles? then click on Add. Follow the instructions.

Reinstalling may not solve the problem either, as Outlook leaves behind many
of its files when you uninstall it, and reinstalling doesn't overwrite them.

You might try opening Outlook once with the /resetfolders switch and see if
that helps. If you need help using Outlook command line switches, look here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197180/

There are other switches listed there that might be helpful to you as well,
such as the /cleanviews switch, so take a look at all of them.
