Problem with installing WinXP Pro (SP2)

I bought WinXP Pro (SP2) with a new pc I just assembled.

It does the initial install with no problem, until the first restart.
It come up with the screen with the blue bar moving to show that it is
loading. the bar passes about 5-7 times than just stop. The whole system then
just hangs up, I left it for some time, but no progress.

I have tried the following and it worked fine:
-Install WinXP Home (SP1) and it install fine, then upgrade from it to WinXP
Pro (SP2) ... same problem.
-Install WinXP Pro (SP1) and got further with it the with the SP2
installation, only problem is that I don't have a license to continue.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

SP2 has all the updates of SP1, so you do not need to install SP1 first. Go
to the
Control Panel and uninstall SP2 that may already have installed on your PC and
Restore your system to where it is working properly. Now boot into Safe Mode
and disable your anti-virus program and reinstall SP2.
If you don't know, here is: "How to Boot in Safe Mode"

Hi guys,

The problem is not the Service Pack itself.
I am tryingto do a clean install from a Win XP Pro OEM package with SP2
included.

The istallation is fine when I install from an OEM package of XP Pro but
only SP1 on, but I don't have a license for this one.

You said it was a machine you just assembled, so I'd look to the
drivers being loaded. Boot into safe mode, and try manually loading
updated drivers for your components from the manufacturers.

Then just go from there...
